The 180 degree rule is used to help the viewer from getting confused.If the camera passes over the imaginary line connecting the two people,it is called crossing the line.The new shot from the opposite sideis known as a reverse angle.The camera cannot cross the 180 degree line as otherwise the viewer would get confused.
