Continuing on Slasher Horror

In a Slasher film, the killer almost allways uses unconventional weapons, such as knives, chainsaws and various blunt objects.
There is often a backstory that explains how the killer developed his or her violent mental state, and why he focuses primarily on a particular type of victim or haunts a perticular location. The killer is almost allways male, and is often able to withstand most or all of the victims attempts to defend themselves.
While the killer is usually portrayed as "pure evil",there are some films which shows the killer to be apitable,or at the very least misunderstood.

Slasher Horror

The Slasher Horror is a sub genre of horror film typically involving a physchopathic killer who stalks and graphically murders a series of mostly adolescent victims in a typically randomn, unprovoked fashion, killing many within a single night. They are popular among te younger generation as it involves younger people.
The victims are usually teenagers or young adults who are away from mainstream civilisation or far away from help and often involved in sexual activities ,illegal drug use or both. These films typically begin with teh murder of a young woman and typically end with a ;one female survivor who manages to subdue the killer.

Editing

After making the film,we then had to edit. We edited the lighting continuity, added sound effects, added credits and writing, we changed the timing, altered the speed. For example:

The Credits: We added four credits. They were the logo "Artisan", "Twisted Pictures presents" , "In association with Kogan pictures"and . We put all the credits in the right hand bottom corner,we changed the colour of the background from black to grey as we thought it would work and relate to the film better. The colour is more suttle.

Lighting Continuity: In shot 3 we changed the lighting as the character "Emma"looked to bright, she looked to orange so we edited the colour.
We added a masking to the film as it helps promote a cinematic feel to the film. The credits and the 180 masking both impose the cinematic experience.

The sound effects:We choose the music off soundtrack pro.The music is eary and creates suspenseThe music is slow and is played throughout the whole two minutes .Our film contained no dialigue as it was only the first two minutes.

Effects:We added slow motion to a close up of emma our character. We chosse to do this as it really showed and emphisized her expression of suffering.

The Hole

The filmed starred Thora Birch,it also featured Keira Knightly. The film opens with the appearance of a disheveled Liz,one of four english public school pupils, who have been missing for 18 days.Liz is interviewed by a physchiatrist and describes the events of the four students in an underground shelter during their school break.
It opens with credits ,shone by a flashlight on a darkbackground, just befor you see the names and credits they are slightly blurred, the dark background creates the sense of unknown. The heavy breathing helps add to the suspense. The intense music over the top makes the audience think that someting bad is going to happen.
The first shot shows the blurriness of the trees, this shows thta it id from her point of view. The camera is hand held it then moves into a girl stumbling down an empty country lane on a dreary day,her hair and make up and clothes suggests something bad has happend to her,and that we are looking at her as the majority of the film has allready happend. She wears a coat ,with socks no shoes, her hair appears dirty and greasey and is placed infront of her face.
This film was a huge insperation for our group as it was exactly whay we wished to do for our film.We used a similiar location in our film, except ours is more islolated. Our Location was in Harpenden.
The first two minutes included a variation of shots for example long shot which allowed us to see her location and where abouts we can see that she is completely isolated from anywhere.Close up shots where important as it allowed us to see her attire, her ripped clothes and messed up hair shows her state. The close up shots used on her face where helpfull it allowed us to see her facial expression,we felt remorse for this character because of the close up shot on her face.It contained no shot reverse shots as it only contained one character. This is similiar to our film.Their are medium close ups of her feet from a high vantage point ,we see the camera following her from behind focusing on her footsteps. This allows us to see her ripped tights and shoeless feet. The first two minutes included a point of view shot. This was effective as we saw her situation from her percpective, the camera was shaking echoing her unsteady mind set.

My Part

As there were three of us working on one film we all had to play different roles.
I played the part of the director,my job was to direct the film, and advice the actress on her part.A film director or filmaker ,is a person who directs the making of a film .A film direc visualises the script, they control a films artistic and dramatic aspects while guiding the technical crew and actors in the fullfilment of his or her vision.

Credits

As it is an opening of a film,it will have to include credits,I looked further on beyond just my three films for the credits ,i looked at a load of horror films. For example:The wrong turn,Eden Lake and Friday 13.Here are a few images of the ones we have choosen to use.

We related the credits to our names.i.e.
"In association with Kogan Pictures" and "Kings studios presents".Both Kogan and King are second names to the fimakers.

Twisted Pictures Presents

In Association with Kogan films

Written and directed by .........
Emma our character was made to look vulerable, ill and dilouded. We created this effect through the mise enscene.

MISE EN SCENE:
CLOTHING:We ripped her tights and put her in a long old coat, she was wearing no shoes. Her face was made to look as though she had been beaten up,we could tell this through the make up,she ha sred and blue bruises surrounding her cheeks, her eyeliner and mascara was smudged to create the effect that she had been crying. We used the Missing sighn to give an indication to the story line.In shot 5 we see the two missing sighns on the ground covered in mud and dirt this shows how she has been forgotten.
THE LOCATION:The location played a huge role as it echoed her lonliness and isolation.Emma was the only character in the first seven scenes.
SPECIAL EFFECTS:In shot1 we see blurred trees this echoes her diziess and insanity. In shot 7 as Emma walks closer to the camera her facial expression is slowed down, this is very effective as we finally see her looking up and looking relieved at the sight of finding the nearest town.
SOUND EFFECTS:The music we choose is eary and industrial sounding.

Here are some photos of our location where we filmed our film.
